How measurements work
We believe in honest testing. Here's exactly what each metric measures and how we calculate it.
Ping (Latency)
We send multiple small HTTP requests to a known endpoint and measure the round-trip time in milliseconds. Lower is better. We sample 10 pings and use the median to avoid outliers.
Jitter
Jitter is the variation in ping over time. High jitter means an unstable connection — bad for video calls and gaming. We calculate the average deviation between consecutive ping samples.
Download Speed
We fetch progressively sized data payloads and measure how fast your browser receives them. We run multiple samples, discard outliers, and report a stable average in Mbps.
Upload Speed
We send controlled data payloads and measure transmission time. Since browsers limit outbound connections, upload results are best-effort estimates. Results may be lower than ISP-reported speeds.
This tool runs entirely in your browser without a dedicated test server. Results reflect real network performance but may differ from ISP-level tools (like Speedtest.net or Fast.com) which use dedicated global test servers and specialized protocols. Use this tool to compare your connection over time or troubleshoot basic issues.
